MOACAC highly values collaborating with high schools and other organizations across the state to assist in students’ post-secondary planning process. Here, you’ll find our philosophy toward college fairs, how MOACAC structures our fair calendar and the timeline during which it is built, plus information and resources to have your fair placed on the official calendar.
MOACAC produces and supports a college fair calendar first with our students in mind. Our goal is to offer accessible fairs to students in all areas of our state so each one can learn about their post-secondary options. A fair calendar also serves to simplify the travel planning schedules for our higher education institutions. Sanctioned fairs ensure representation opportunities for those institutions, giving students more options to learn about during a college fair.
Included below is a map of the state of Missouri broken down into regions. Each region has a designated week(s) during which college fairs should take place. Please select a date during your region’s week to ensure the greatest number of institutions can attend your fair.
St. Louis Week 1| September 13-September 19
St. Louis Week 2 | October 11-October 17
Kansas City Week 1 | September 20-September 26
Kansas City Week 2 | October 18-October 24
Central | October 11-October 17
West Central | September 20-September 26
Northeast | September 27-October 3
Northwest | October 25-October 31
Southeast | October 4-October 10
Southwest | October 18-October 24
Our goal will be to group fairs in similar regions during the same week(s) of a given month. Fairs will be scheduled over a three month period.
February
March
April
The College Fair Committee will not sanction fairs in the same region on the same date/time. This puts some fair sites at a disadvantage when institutions must choose which event to attend. We will do our best to schedule requested fairs on your first or second choice date. You are also encouraged to collaborate with other area schools to co-host a fair or alternate which site hosts in a given year. Schools within 25 miles of each other will be strongly encouraged to combine fairs.
The College Fair Request Form will open in early January. We will accept requests to host a fair between then and April 1 each spring.
The College Fair Committee meets in April to build the calendar for the upcoming fall and spring. The first edition of the College Fair Calendar will be released by May 15.
Requests not submitted by April 1 will be added to the calendar once each month between May 15 and August 1. New editions of the College Fair Calendar will be released on the last day of the month in May, June, and July. To be included in the next edition, requests must be submitted by the 25th of the month. Requests submitted between the 26th to the last day of the month will be included in the following month’s edition. The final edition of the College Fair Calendar will be posted by August 15 on the MOACAC website.
Requests to host a fair that are received after August 15 will not be on the MOACAC fall calendar in September or October. Should your school still want to host a fall fair, please communicate with the College Fair Committee co-chairs to select a date in November or during the upcoming spring semester.
To be added to the MOACAC College Fair Calendar, your fair must meet one or more of the following criteria:
Have 50 or more colleges in attendance
250 or more students/parents in attendance
Additionally, we strongly recommend that fairs last approximately 90 minutes, with 2 hours being the max length of your event.
If approved, we will provide resources to help you plan your fair, including: rep invitation templates, venue set up floor plans, flyers, event evaluations, hospitality suggestions, and more!
Thank you for your understanding and support!
